Can a portrait company make it by just using the photographers name? Is a catchy name needed? If it's not up to par or doesn't cut it, please feel free to share any ideas you might have for a great company name!

I think "Josh McKenney Photography" is a great name. For one, I know that you, or someone you've trained, will be taking my pictures. Other friends of mine who have photography companies have "catchy" names for their businesses, and I personally think they limit their clientèle to those who might fall into the "Oh cute, I'm a girl" demographic.
By the way, I like your website. Simple, clean, professional, good organization of information and easy to navigate. :)
Most photographers - as far as I can tell - name their business after themselves - it is standard practice. So, not stupid, but typical.
